By the sea at Crafts Beautiful

The latest Crafts Beautiful magazine was published yesterday and this is a nautical card I was commissioned to make for them. I used MFT Sweet Sunshine papers and Joy seashore dies.  I cut circles out of the top paper, wrapped some twine around the lifebuoy and used a Fiskars tag punch and some enamel dots.

Purple poppies

I used this Woodware stamp a while ago for a magazine commission and coloured the poppies red. I stamped another as I wanted to see what it would like coloured purple and here it is.  The card is 7x7 so I used an old HOTP scrapbook paper which is the perfect colour to match my image. The corner die is Sue Wilson and the sentiment is LOTV. I also used some old raffia lace. I used to use lots of this and still have several colours in one of my ribbon boxes.  It seems to be a week for using old favourite embellishments.

An owl and GDPR regs

I have another of the new LOTV watercoloured images to share with you today. I was in the mood for Autumnal colours for a change and used Nikki Sivil's tree love papers. The dies are Lawn Fawn stitched circle and MFT stitched leaves, the sentiment is LOTV. I was going to use some feathers but on looking in a box for them I came across a pack of skeleteon leaves which I must have had for about 10 years and haven't used for years so I added them instead.

Allsorts Happy Birthday Allsorts

So GDPR regs. I thought I would just add a bit again today as I have had a few people contacting me asking if they need to have a privacy policy and others asking if they can use mine. My initial thought when it was raised on Facebook was that it didn't apply to me. I don't sell on my blog but further reading and info from others who know more about it than me convinced me that all bloggers need a privacy policy. Mine is copied from some other policies, just tweaked to suit my style.  I am more than happy for anyone to copy mine or use it as a basis for theirs. You can find it on one of the pages at the top.  If you have people subscribing to your blog by email then you will need to contact them to gain their permission to continue and include something in your policy about it. I have never allowed email subscribers so haven't needed to do this.

Moon Baby Baptism

I was asked on Friday if I could make a couple of cards for baptisms which needed to be posted to America on Monday. As I had some crafting time at the weekend I said I would make them and for the boy's card i used this cute Stampin' Up Moon Baby stamp. I coloured it with Copics and used a gold glitter pen on the star and aSpectrum Noir clear glitter brush pen on the moon.  I was recommended to try these instead of Wink of Stella and I do find them more glittery. The papers are Maja Denim and friends and the flowers are from Wild Orchid. The stitched circle die is Lawn Fawn.

I would like to enter this into the anything goes challenge at Penny Black and more at Allsorts.

Snowy again!

I couldn't resist using my lovely Snowy wooden stamp again after waiting so long to buy him. I coloured him with Copics and diecut using a MFT stitched dome die. The papers are Bo Bunny Altitude. I stamped the LOTV sentiment in white on black for a chalkboard effect and diecut some trees and a snowflake banner from aqua glitter card. I had to add fun flock to his pompom too.

ABC Christmas J for joy

There has been a big discussion on Facebook about the new EU GDPR regulations and it appears that blogs do require a privacy policy. Some very helpful bloggers have written theirs and were happy to have them copied. I used a couple and altered them slightly otherwise I wouldn't have known where to start.  You can see my privacy policy on one of the pages at the top. You are very welcome to use mine as a basis for your policy if you like.  Another thing to thank the EU for!

Surf's Up

A rather different card today but again using one of the new LOTV watercoloured digis. This one is called Surf's Up. I used an old CC embossing folder and kraft Core'dinations which I sanded back. The sun die is from MFT and I added some cream burlap and a string bow.

Hubby is off to Bedfordshire early today to drive one of the rescue boats at the powerboat racing so I have a day to myself. Unfortunately there is some ironing to be done but then I shall mainly be in the craft room. Time for some reading too, I love a good book.

Saturday, 19 May 2018

Another of the new LOTV watercoloured images today, teacup of poppies. I rarely make round cards but having diecut the image using a Lawn Fawn stitched circle die I remembered I have the Tonic Studios trellis circle die set which I rarely use. I liked the simplicity of it so just added a couple of burlap butterflies.

The weather should be good today so we are planning a morning gardening. The forget me nots are just getting past their best so time for them to come out, have a tidy and plant a few new plants. No doubt we shall need more to fill the gaps so a trip to the garden centre next week I think.

I promised another of the new LOTV watercoloured images today and here it is. This image is called bird with white blossom. I teamed it with Bo Bunny Secret Garden papers, ribbon and lace from Crafty Ribbons, bird and birdhouse from Creative Embellishments, flowers from Wild Orchid and a LOTV sentiment. I distressed the edges with DI antique linen.  The dies I used are MFT wonky stitched oval and Impression Obsessions leaves.

LOTV new launch

Late today with my post but I wasn't planing on posting today. However LOTV launched lots of lovely watercoloured images today and I have had a chance to play with some of them. This one is called In the Harbour. I used some old Forever Friends paper and an old embossing folder. The diecuts were made with a new set I bought from The Craft Barn closing down sale.  The sentiment is LOTV.  Do go and check these new images out as they are lovely. I will be sharing another one tomorrow.

I used one of the cute bunny trio digis for my card. Coloured with Copics and using the MFT cloud stencil for the sky. I used a Lawn Fawn stitched circle dies, butterfly punch, LOTV digi papers, LOTV sentiment and a Joy border which seems to have been discontinued. I also coloured the toadstool border with Copics and added spots with a white gel pen.

More Painted Blooms

This is another of the cards made for Papercrafter magazine using Dovecraft Painted Blooms. Everything except the lilac card and brown ink for edging is from the range. I made an envelope and diecut the flowers using the Painted Blooms die.  Not my usual style but rather pretty. Some magazine commissions can be challenging when outside my comfort zone but I enjoy a challenge.

Short sweet post today I know. We have a long day ahead as it is my day selling at the hospital shop so hoping for lots of lovely customers.

Vintage snowmen

I saw somebody using this stamp from Digistamp Boutique and of course being snowmen I just had to buy it. I just bought these papers which are actually rustic Wedding from Crafter's Companion. Most of them are suitable for any occasion and I fancied making a vintage style Christmas card with this image for a change from bright colours.

Drink Beer

I am sorry I haven't had a card to share since Wednesday but I have been working on some magazine cards so obviously can't share those yet. We have a new challenge at A Gem of a Challenge and our theme is It's a Man's World. I used one of the precoloured toppers for my card. The paper which goes so well with it is from the First Edition Grand Plans pad. I used an old MS zigzag border punch, Fiskare banner punch and added a button and some twine.  I hope you will join us this time, maybe you need to make a Father's Day card for next month.  I would like to enter this into the for the boys challenge at Simon Says.

Flowers galore

I am really enjoying using my latest digis from Digistamp Boutique. This is from a set of two beautiful precoloured flower vases. I used First Edition beyond the shore papers and added some cheesecloh and lace which is from Crafty Ribbons. The flowers are from Hobbycraft and one of the pound shops. The small leaves were cut using an Impression Obsessions die and the large leaves were made with a Joy die.

Little bears

I love the MFT Bitty Bears and wanted to use them for some packs of little Christmas cards. I diecut them and coloured with Copics.  The cards are 3" square so I designed the backing card with a red border and dotted edge, printed them and added the bears. It feels good to be getting ahead with Christmas makes for my fairs.

Painted Blooms

How is your Bank holiday weekend going so far?  We had a lovely day out at the coast on Saturday, lovely walks and then met up with friends for a meal and a 60's show. The theatre we went to was beautiful. It was built in 1901 and had some wonderful old posters, chandeliers etc and the seating arrangements were 6 seats at a round table. Yesterday and today there is a big powerboat meeting so hubby is out volunteering on rescue for that.  I had a good day yesterday doing lots of a very hard jigsaw, thanks Mum. I did a bi of gardening, some ironing and a had a sort out of my wardrobes. Today I am planning lots of crafting.  Looking forward to the final part of Woman in White tonight.

So onto my card which is one of four I was commissioned to make for Papercrafter magazine.  They sent me lots of Dovercraft painted blooms materials and I had to mainly use those for my cards.   For this card I didn't add anything else.  The flowers and leaves were cut with dies from the Painted Bloom range.

Norwich City supporter penguin!

When I coloured this DSB image I simply thought what colours would go nicely with his red coat.  Hubby came in and said he is wearing Norwich City Football colours which I hadn't realised at all but it did make me smile. The papers are Dovecraft jolly happy Christmas and the dies are MFT layered snowflakes. I used a Pink Gem sentiment, Stickles and a Viva pearl pen for the snow.

Keeping it simple

I bought a couple of box picture frames to make some pictures to sell. I chose this beautiful LOTV ballerina for the first one. I  coloured her with Copics and simply added some flowers from Wild Orchid. This would make a lovely addition to a girl's bedroom I think.

Make a wish on a unicorn

A really quick card to make for today's blog post using one of the precoloured zoo animals new from LOTV. The papers are old Wild Rose Christmas ones and were just the colours I wanted to match the image. The sentiment is from LOTV cut with a MFT banner die and I added some enamel dots. Simple.

Down on the farm

I am really pleased with the way this card turned out. I bought the new set of farm digis from Digistamp Boutique, such great value as it was on early bird offer at just 99p for 14 images. I merged the barn, grass and animals together to create a scene which I coloured with Copics, using chalk with my MFT cloud stencil for the sky,

The papers are Nikki Sivills tree love. I used a Crafter's Companion icicle die for the grass, First Edition farm set for the gate and an old Memory Box branch die.

Peas in a pod

Well I certainly have plenty of baby cards in stock after this latest release from LOTV and I still have some waiting to be coloured. This is such an adorable image which I coloured with Copics. The papers are new digi ones from LOTV. I don't use green that much but the fresh green and white papers go so well with the image. I kept the colours neutral so it will suit boys or girls, or one of each.

I added some cheesecloth, used a MFT wonky stitched rectangle die, MS fern punch, burlap flowers from America and some little wooden hearts.

Proud moment

Well I must say I am doing better this year with my scrapbook layouts. This page is from 2015 when we were on holiday in Yorkshire and I paid what was to be my last visit to Lili of the Valley.  I didn't know then the shop would be closing but I am so glad I got the chance to visit it three times. This last time I met with Anne who used to work there and I was delighted to see some of my cards on display as I had joined the DT.

I used Santoro papers and some old LOTV Antebellum papers which I cut with MFT jumbo stitched banner dies. I used American Thickers letters and some new alignment guides I bought in Hobbycraft last week. I used the circle one as a template and one of the wavy line ones to align my heading.   The LOTV I cut from the front of the paper pad.  I added a few bits from a pack of diecuts.

It's the start of the powerboat racing season at Oulton Broad today so hubby will be off  just after lunch to go volunteering on the rescue boat and won't be home until late this evening so lots of crafty time for me.

Hedgie and Holly

You may have seen my snowman card on Tuesday well I also bought this Penny Black stamp at the same time.  I coloured him with Copics and added a subtle grey shading around him which I haven't done for ages. It's funny how some things I used to do a lot on cards I forget about until I seem the technique on another blog and think I must do that again.  The oval is MFT wonky stitched and the holly is an old Memory Box die.  The sentiment is LOTV.

Today is launch day!

If you saw my second post yesterday you will have seen the baby plaque I made for a baby girl so today I am sharing the one I made for a baby boy. These new images, sentiments and alphabets all launch at noon today at LOTV.

The new image is called Sweet Dreams and has been coloured with Copics. The alphabet letters are new and are called Toy Block. They come in a range of colours and are so easy to cut out.

For this one I covered the plaque with some paper from Craftwork Cards, added some cheesecloth from he Ribbon Girl, lace, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, flowers from Wild Orchid and again coloured a wooden heart with white Wink of Stella.

A better view of the ribbon.

We are going into the city today as we both have eye checkups at the opticians. I only had new glasses last year so I am hoping my eyes haven't changed enough to need to change my glasses.

Another sneak peek

Back with a second post again today as I have so many of these new images I want to show you. I made a pretty baby plaque using one of the new LOTV images, polkadots and one of the new princess sentiments.  I coloured the image with Copics and tried out a different skin colour combo which I learnt at Faye's colouring class last year and which she said is good for babies, YR20, YR00, YR000 and a little E04 for the cast shadow.

The aper is from an old LOTV pad, ribbon from Crafty Ribbons, flowers from Wild Orchid, cheesecloth from The Ribbon Girl, lace from stash  I coloured the wooden hearts with a white Wink of Stella pen and use Dovecraft pastel pink 3d pearl drops around the image.

Here is the whole thing so you can see the ribbon better.

New zoo alphabet

I have another sneak peek for you today and this is actually an image from another of the new alphabets launching tomorrow from LOTV. This is from the zoo alphabet. Each letter comes with a cute animal image and I thought what great card toppers they make. You could use the whole alphabet to make a poster or frieze for a child's bedroom.

I love the bright colours and the old K&Co Hopscotch papers were a perfect match. It really didn't need much so I just punched some stars and crimped them.

There are some lovely samples from the rest of the DT so do check them out on their blogs or on the LOTV World Facebook page.

As promised on my second post yesterday I am sharing one of the new images launching on Monday as part of the LOTV New Beginnings launch. This is Scuffy Edward, well I think he is adorable. I kept the layout very simple using some gingham paper and MFT scalloped basic border dies and some enamel dots.

LOTV sneak peek with more bunting

Back with a second post today.  There is a new release from LOTV on Monday called new beginnings. There are new images, sentiments and some fabulous alphabets. I made some more paper bunting and used the patchwork alphabet which comes in various colours. If you zoom in on the photo you can see the patterns on the letters. Tomorrow I will be sharing a card made with one of the new stamps and it is soooooo cute.

Pink rose barrow

There are so many lovely new precoloured digi toppers at Pink Gem and as flowers are always popular with my customers I used pink rose barrow for my Birthday card. The paper is an old Prima one and I remembered I had a similar colour doily which was fortunate. I found he sentiment already stamped up in my sentiment folder, no idea where it comes from. The sparkly butterflies are from Poundland and I used a clear Wink of Stella pen on some of the image.

Sorry for the photo but it was very difficult to get a good picture of my new bunting I have been making. I have had the idea of making some paper or card bunting for a while so when I saw a set of triangle dies at The Works for £6 and I had a 25% off deal come through I decided to by them as diecutting is so much quicker than measuring and cutting by hand.   I was even more pleased to find that the dies actually come with an extra deep top which is perforated enabling me to cut the patterned card attach double sided tape and the ribbon and then fold the top over the ribbon. I then cut more triangles, trimmed off the extra top piece and attached them to the backs to neaten them.

On the top one I added paper flowers and card candi and on the second one some butterflies from Poundland. I dug out an old Sizzix alphabet die for the baby ones and added diecut babygros and prams to the ends. I shall be taking these to my next hospital shop day in May.

This is one of the latest Pink Gem precoloured digis which I just had to use straight away. I added some glitter using a clear Wink of Stella pen but of course it doesn't show on the photo. The stitched clouds are a MFT die and I stamped and diecut a rainbow using Avery Elle products and coloured it with Copics.  I just wanted something to finish it off and the Hobbycraft star punch was just the thing.

I bought Snowy!

I have wanted Snowy, a wooden Penny Black stamp, for years and the price he has gone for on Ebay has always been too much. When a fellow crafter was having a clearout last week I spotted Snowy amongst the stamps for just £2.50 I snapped him up before anyone else could. I bought another PB stamp and an old Sugar Nellie Gorjuss one too that I had always wanted.  Well it made paying £3 postage worthwhile then.

I was happily colouring him and my R35 ran out but luckily I had a spare. I am starting to buy refills for some of my most used colours as it works out cheaper in the long run.

So he has been diecut with a Lawn Fawn stitched circle die and I decided to use an old Cuttelbug embossing folder for a change. The paper is from the MME touch of chalk pad. The sentiment was in my Christmas folder and i am pretty sure comes from an old Humphrey stamp.

World Craft Week for Bliss charity

It is World Craft Week in aid of Bliss, the charity that supports parents and families of premature babies. I was asked by Hannah at Papercraft Inspirations if I would create a card for the Immediate Media event. The idea is that designers create simple cards for beginners which can be made without stamps or dies using basic shapes or a template.   I had fun coming up with the idea of a sailboat and created a simple template though it can easily be made without. I used various scraps of paper and although it isn't my normal style of card it is rather fun isn't it.

The Photographer

I said I had managed two scrapbook layouts last week and here is the second one. More old photos of Graham. He took up photography in the 70's.  Gradually his equipment grew until as these pictures from the 80's show he ended up with a huge gadget bag. I don;t think he could carry that around all day now.  He had so many lenses and filters and although he still loves photography today's cameras mean not so much to carry.

I wanted a simple background paper and the clouds were perfect. I bought the camera stamp years ago. The film strip was made with a Tim Holtz die and vintage photo distress ink on the kraft card. The camera card is from a set from Hobby Lobby.

Stretch your stash commission

I have another of the cards made for Papercraft Essentials to show you today. This one even made it to the front cover, although just a small pic top right if you have the magazine.  So far out of my comfort zone with these cards but they made me think about different ways to use a few items. I must admit the paper isn't a colour I would normally use. I used some of the heart stickers to form the stem and layered up the flowers.  The sentiment are all from the Mum in a Million set except the Happy Birthday which I stamped.  I would like to enter this into the Happy Birthday challenge at Simon Says.

I always post my cards on Pinterest and it is interesting to see which cards get repinned. I was so surprised that somebody pinned my first card made with this set.

I would like to enter this into the ABC Christmas challenge H for hats and the anything goes challenge at The Ribbon Girl.

Today we will be loading up the car and setting up the retail unit at the hospital ready for trading tomorrow, then a quick trip into the city centre to collect something I ordered online from The Works, then home. Hubby loves collecting vinyl singles and albums and bought a new case which holds 200 singles so we are having a reorganisation of them this afternoon.  Then it will be roast chicken dinner  before settling down to watch Ordeal by Innocence. We are currently working our way through series 1-3 of Poldark and loving them all over again so may watch one of those too.
